Counselling For
Life-Limiting Illness
Have you been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or been told your condition is now terminal? Waves of Hope Grief Counselling provides counselling for life-limiting illness or people who face a terminal prognosis. At first you may feel shock and numb. Feelings of anger, frustration, sadness, anxiety, depression and denial are common. You may even feel some relief at finally having some answers to your symptoms. Quite often, people feel they cannot express what they are truly feeling to their partner, family or friends. Having a counsellor, someone who is independent and not part of your situation can be a safe place to express all those emotions that you are protecting your family from. Together we can work at your own pace and explore what your diagnosis means for you. Your counsellor can help you to make goals and explore plans to live fully and to plan for the future. Exploring self-care and communicating your needs and wishes to your family is also a common area of discussion. With a background in nursing and training and experience in the funeral industry as a Funeral Celebrant and End of Life Doula, Margaret feels comfortable to create a safe space to discuss her clients grief and thoughts and fears relating to end of life, death and dying at their own pace.
Margaret provides flexibility to her clients and can do home or hospital visits if required (conditions apply). Online or phone counselling is also available, along with traditional counselling in a counselling room in Ballarat.
